The biggest obstacle to the skill of controlling strikes is tension. Tension causes fear and fear causes tension and we need to get away from this vicious cycle.

Two basic breathing principles:

Inhale through the nose and out through the mouth whenever you are carrying through a task
Do not hold your breath (unless it is an exercise of breath holds)
Stand up and keep your feet comfortably equidistant from each other. Inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
